This guide is for Salesforce administrators installing version 2.0 or later for the first time. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, follow Upgrade to v2.0.
Before you begin
You need:
Salesforce administrator access
Permission to install managed packages and edit Lightning record pages
A list of users and administrators who need access
Popups enabled for Salesforce during connection
1. Install the package
1. Open the SalesWings AI Sales Agent AppExchange listing.
2. Select Get It Now and choose the Salesforce org.
3. Complete the Salesforce installation flow.
4. In Setup → Installed Packages, confirm that SalesWings AI Sales Agent appears.
2. Assign permission sets
SW AI Sales Agent Admin — for administrators who manage the connection and settings. It also grants access to the Agent component.
SW AI Sales Agent User — for other users who need the Agent on Salesforce records.
To assign a permission set:
1. In Setup, open Permission Sets.
2. Select the permission set.
3. Select Manage Assignments → Add Assignments.
4. Select the users and complete the assignment.
3. Connect the Salesforce org
The Agent cannot start conversations until the org is connected.
1. Open the App Launcher and select SW AI Sales Agent Settings.
2. Select Connection.
3. Select Connect.
4. Complete authorization in the popup window.
5. Return to the settings page and confirm that the status is Connected.
If the popup does not open, allow popups for your Salesforce domain and try again.
The connection applies to the whole org. Disconnect prevents all users from using chat until an administrator reconnects it; it does not delete conversations or BYOM settings.
Connection statuses
Status | What to do |
Connected | No action required |
Connecting | Complete authorization and wait for the status to refresh. |
Not connected | Select **Connect** and authorize the connection. |
Needs reconnect | Select **Connect** and authorize again. |
Connection failed | Retry, then contact SalesWings Support if the problem continues. |
4. Add the Agent to record pages
The SW AI Sales Agent component supports Account, Contact, Lead, and Opportunity record pages.
For each page where the Agent should appear:
1. Open a record and select the gear icon, then Edit Page.
2. Find SW AI Sales Agent under the custom managed components.
3. Drag it to the desired location.
4. Select Save and activate the page for the appropriate apps, record types, and profiles.
5. Choose whether conversations are shared
Open SW AI Sales Agent Settings → Preferences and configure Chat User Scope:
Disabled, the default — users share the conversation for the same Account or Lead.
Enabled — each Salesforce user has a separate conversation.
Contacts and Opportunities are grouped with their related Account. Changing this setting does not migrate or delete existing conversations.
6. Configure Guardrails and Contexts
Guardrails determine which Salesforce fields are eligible for selection. Contexts determine which eligible fields are sent to the AI Sales Assistant and Copilot.
Required record information

Opportunity

Configure Guardrails
Open Preferences → Guardrails.
Select the permitted Salesforce Data Sensitivity Levels.

Selecting no sensitivity levels turns filtering off, making every supported field eligible. Select at least one level to restrict the list.
Guardrails do not inspect text that users type into chat.
Select Context fields
Open Contexts.
Select the permitted Account, Lead, and Opportunity fields.
Save the settings.
Account pages use Account fields. Contacts use fields from their related Account. Leads use Lead fields.
Opportunities use their related Account for normal chat. Selected Opportunity fields are used when Qualify supplies opportunity information.
Only select data that your organization approves for processing by its configured services.
7. Validate the setup
SW AI Sales Agent Settings opens for an administrator.
Connection reports Connected.
The component appears on a supported record page.
An authorized user can send a test question.
If user scope is enabled, two users see separate histories.
If BYOM is enabled, a new BYOM conversation succeeds.
Troubleshooting
Access warning: Assign the appropriate Admin or User permission set.
Missing record information: Check the required record information above.
